OUR STORY
Our passion for the manoushe started at a young age. Every weekend we’d wake up to the smell of our mom and grandma baking fresh za’atar manoushe and run straight to the kitchen.
Fast forward to 2016 when our family decided to share this experience by selling our fresh za’atar manoushe at DC farmers markets. Since then, we’ve been perfecting our recipe and are always seeking the best way to get our increasingly popular manoushe into more hands.
To stay true to this Middle Eastern icon, we make our manoushe by hand using only the finest ingredients. When you pull our sizzling, aromatic manoushe out of your oven, we hope you’ll be transported to your own nostalgic memories of breaking bread around a table with loved ones. Enjoy! Sahtain!
What’s a manoushe?
A manoushe is perhaps the most iconic food of the middle east. It’s the flatbread made famous from every corner bakery’s oven and baked fresh at home. It’s most commonly slathered in za’atar, a thyme herb mix with sesame seeds that adds a savory and tangy delicious twist to the amazing crust.
What in your manoushe?
Our manoushe is made with only the finest ingredients. We use a premium Palestinian za’atar sourced from a coop of farmers in Jenin, Palestine and a buttery Tunisian Extra Virgin Olive oil.
How is your manoushe made?
Our manoushe are all hand-made in small batches to ensure the best quality. After using a special blend of flours from the royalty of grains himself, King Arthur, we let our dough ferment for 48 hours for the ultimate development of flavor and texture. Finally, we cook your manoushe the old-school way on a dome shaped saj oven (bread pillow and all) that have been used in the Middle East for centuries to give your manoushe that perfect crispy-yet-chewy finish you’ll come to love.
What are the nutrition facts of a Manoushe

Is Manoushe Vegan?
Yes! The za’atar manoushe is naturally vegan and does not contain any animal products.
Is Manoushe allergen-free?
The manoushe by Z&Z contains gluten, but is made without dairy, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish and soy.
How should I store my manoushe?
You should freeze your manoushe as soon as you receive them. This is to keep them at the best quality possible until you’re ready to eat them! The manoushe by Z&Z does not contain any preservatives and this helps it stay at its best.
How should I prepare my manoushe?
Our manoushe is ready to heat straight from the freezer! No thawing necessary.
The best way: Pre-heat your oven (little toaster ovens work fine too) to 450 Fahrenheit (or as close to as you can get it). Remove all packaging from the manoushe and place it in a tray on your center rack and bake for 5 minutes. Slice up and finish how you like then enjoy!
Do you sell the manoushe in any stores?
Yes! Z&Z’s manoushe is sold in local grocery stores in the DC-area
If you are not near any stores that carry them, you can order our manoushe online here!

How long does it take for online orders to ship?
Our orders ship out from D.C. every Monday. States in the one day range (DC, MD, VA, DE, and NJ) will arrive on Tuesday. All other states in our delivery range will arrive by Wednesday. We will alert you once your order has shipped and when it arrives.
What is my manoushe packed in?
Your manoushe will ship in a biodegradable insulator called Green Cell Foam. It acts just like Styrofoam to keep your Manoushe cold during transit, but is made from cornstarch. Your manoushe will also be kept the coolest with dry ice.
Always handle Dry Ice with care and wear protective cloth or leather gloves whenever touching it. Leave your dry ice in an open, well-ventilated area to dispose. When left at room temperature dry ice will transform from a solid to a gas.
What should I do with the insulator my manoushe arrives in?
Your insulator is biodegradable! It's called Green Cell Foam. It acts just like Styrofoam to keep your Manoushe cold during transit, but is made from cornstarch - and dissolves in water! Check out the video below to see how it dissolves under water, right in your kitchen sink: Watch Here
Why do you not ship custom quantities?
We ship 5 or 6 manoushe at a time for a few reasons:
It's the most economical for the both of us. We only use one size box so it’s imperative to send out full boxes only so the shipping & packaging cost per unit is as low as possible!
We only use one size insulator. We're using a special biodegradable one called Green Cell Foam (we’re trying to be more friendly to the environment too) and need to purchase a custom sized box that snuggles our manoushe just right and makes sure they stay cold on their journeys to you.
It's easier to keep your manoushe frozen when we ship more at a time, because together with the dry ice, they keep each other cold inside your shipping box.
If 5 or 6 is too much for you or your freezer, please consider eating 2 at the same time. Or share the shipment with friends, neighbors, or family members!
