The Signature Syrian Spice
The Middle East’s most popular crushed pepper flake is from the city of Aleppo. This is the real Syrian pepper, harvested in late summer from the cities of Hama, As-Safira, and Al-Bab near Aleppo for a really versatile flavor. We were able to get our hands on a very limited supply of this special spice but it won't be available for long.
Mild Chile Flakes
Aleppo pepper is a mild fruity chili with a slow-building heat that can be used much like crushed red pepper in any recipe. Some people even say it tastes like sun-dried tomatoes. Those people wouldn’t be wrong. Aleppo pepper is a key ingredient in muhammara and a popular finisher for the famous lahm bi ajeen meat pie. We’ve heard it’s also a killer addition to that shakshuka you’re planning to make for your bestie brunch this weekend.
